Hangzhou, the provincial capital of Zhejiang Province, is located in the southeast coast of China, northern Zhejiang Province, the lower reaches of the Qiantang River, and the southern end of the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal. It is a provincial, political, economic, cultural, educational, transportation, and financial center in Zhejiang Province. One of the central cities of the group, the core city of the Hangzhou Bay Greater Bay Area, the node city of the Ninghang Ecological Economic Belt in the Yangtze River Delta, and one of the important e-commerce centers in China.


Hangzhou has a dense network of rivers and dense lakes, and is rich in products. It has the typical characteristics of a "river south" and is known as "a land of fish and rice" and "a paradise on earth". Hangzhou Sericulture and West Lake Longjing Tea are famous all over the country.


Hangzhou is rich in tourism resources and has two national-level scenic spots: the West Lake Scenic Spot and "Two Rivers and Two Lakes"; two national-level nature reserves Tianmu Mountain and Qingliangfeng Nature Reserve; seven national forest parks: Qiandao Lake, Daqishan, Wuchao Mountain, Fuchun River, Qingshan Lake, Banshan and Tonglu Yaolin Forest Park; a national tourism resort: Zhijiang National Tourism Resort; the first national wetland in the country: Xixi National Wetland Park. Hangzhou West Lake and China Grand Canal have been selected as World Heritage Sites.
